Mapping LGBTQ Stories

About

Global TraQs is a digital storytelling map which seeks to tell stories across national and cultural borders, allowing anyone and everyone to tell their own not-so-straight story via a geolocating multimedia web-based digital map. Users will be able to pinpoint, on the map, where a story happened, and post text, audio, video, pictures, and links. A story can be anything, from a historical event (ie: Stonewall), to something personal that happened to an individual, to LGBTQ-specific resources provided by local community organizations. Stories can be shared and seen by anyone who registers for Global TraQs. Hence, the site acts as an interactive repository of events and stories that present a narrative of LGBT history, and also as a social networking platform to connect LGBT individuals and allies around the world. Moreover, it provides ways for people to connect to local political advocacy groups and initiatives, with an eye toward global solidarity though the sharing of knowledge.
